about

Tesserae are the small fragments of ceramic or glass used to make mosaics. I hope the term serves as a nice metaphor for my mind which is perhaps made up of small, artfully arranged pieces of thought.

Either that or it's just cracked.

I started blogging in 2006 when I found myself frequently up in the night with my 4th child. My kids give me ample material to write about, but I also have the occasional deep thought  about art, philosophy, religion or flaming giraffes.

I teach part time for the Humanities and Honors departments at a large university.

I've published articles in Brain, Child magazine, Segullah, and the Wasatch Journal.

My finished manuscript of essays connecting art with parenting is entitled Still Life with Penguins.
