Man, those piles don't even look that bad from this angle. Why does it take so dang long to get through them? Sigh. Ah well, the life of a professor/wife/mother/wanna-be-writer is never dull. Exhausting sometimes maybe, but never dull.
And never, ever lonely because—with the exception of the productive six hours spent entirely by myself in my office on campus on Saturday (thanks Ken!)—I usually have lots of company when I grade papers. I have little helpers willing to reorganize my stacks and doodle on the pages and play Mr. Crocodile with the stapler. And seriously, how can I be lonely when Nora’s right next to me, carrying on a gripping conversation with grandpa on

Good luck!
I feel your pain! (And I'm happy not to be in your situation this year, for a change :) )
I went to a paperless format just to get those piles out of my house. I still have that many papers to grade, but they are all on my computer and I can take them everywhere without worry about kid scribbles, coffee spills, or cat presents. Ugh.
Also, rocks for plagiarism checks.
I love how anything with numbered buttons can become a phone!
Your pile is bigger than my junk mail pile. Good luck with that.
I love babie phone conversations!
