13 little things around my house that I am grateful for
1. The coolest tool Pampered Chef ever made.
2. Legos. Okay, so I have a love/hate relationship with these vacuum hors d'oeuvres. My sons, however, adore the stuff. Their gratitude takes the form of a perpetual shrine to Ole Kirk Christiansen on the floor of their room.
3. The small miracle that is running water. [New benefit to blogging: forces me to scrub kitchen faucet for photo op].
4. My watch. Because it's nice to know exactly how exactly how late I am.
5. The fifth food group.
6. Souvenirs/memories from Spain. (Yes I did notice the strategically-placed polka dots. Who could miss them?)
7. My lone defense against the demon drums of Isengard pounding in my head.
8. McKay's freckles. Aren't they adorable?
9. Baker's yeast -- a true testament to human ingenuity. Ancient Egyptian dude: "Hey some freaky living creatures from the air have landed in my flatbread dough and are making it bubble and froth. Gee, I think I'll bake it and eat it."
10. Modern tooth care. People used to scrub their teeth with sand! (Oh, wait, let me take a look at the toothpaste ingredients. Hydrated Silica? Hmmmm.)
11. This ring. (And the tall handsome guy who gave it to me).
12. Four children, some of whom aren't so little any more.
13. My digital camera. I wanted to take a picture of it, but was faced with a one-hand-clapping Zen quandary. How does one photograph the photograph-izer?
I could have used a mirror, I suppose. Duh. Why didn't I think of that sooner?

Thanks Annie
I was actually pleasantly surprised by the faucet picture. I'm not that great of a photographer. Do you think someday I will actually miss Legos? Gosh I hope so.
Great pictures and very creative and interesting list!! I love all the 'little things'. I makes life great!
Happy Thanksgiving.
(p.s. just from my own experience - yes you will miss legos one day, strangely enough!)
So Zen you are. Has anyone not been grateful for modern dentistry after watching Castaway?
Lego is amazing. We don't have children, but we have legos. My husband 'rescued' his childhood set from his mother's house - they get used when people with children come to visit, and he'll get down and play with them too.
I love the pictures and the post was lovely.
Great list. :) Love the ring - it's beautiful! Legos are very cool - they were my favourite toy as a child, and we didn't have all the cool Legos that they have today. ;)
That Pampered Chef strawberry tool looks so cool - that would be so handy to have around, since we LOVE strawberries.
Although I celebrated Thanksgiving last month (Canadian Thanksgiving is in October), a Happy Thanksgiving to you. :)
THat was a funny post. YOu are very entertaining. Thanks for that..It made me smile
Love the list...

What an interesting list of things to be thankful for.
Happy TT1
[julie] - thanks for the visit...
by the way, I like your T13 idea. Being thankful for the smallest things we have around us. But I love the ring the most part. Hope I can have one soon...hehehe.
I love that things that are photographed for the blog require more attention that just the basic requirements of real life. I'd totally clean my entire house just to photograph it for my blog.
And I heart freckles, and yes. They are super adorable.
See you around at Radioactive Jam's and felt compelled to visit. Happy thanksgiving!
Muwahahahahaha! The inscrutable plan for total world domination continues to unfold!
Aside: yes, this is one of those comments. You know the type: where you read it and you're like, "Huh?" Me, I'm blaming caffeine because I cut a deal with the assistant DA. Take that, you unregulated neural stimulant!
"Fine, just fine. You?"
I make my kids pose in ways that I can block the disorderly junk strewn about the house. I never thought about cleaning though. That's a good tip.
We have graduated from Lego bits to K'nex chaos around here. They get in between my toes.
Such a fabulous, and funny list. Hope that you guys had a Happy Thanksgiving!
I, too, am grateful for all the little things in life. And by little, I mean all the seemingly insignificant things we often take for granted. (I have been doing a similar thing on my own blog.) Besides which, it is almost always the little things in life that end up meaning the most to us.
I love how you included a picture for each thing you were thankful for. It made the post much more personal! I might have to "borrow" the idea :) !!
What!!! You actually cleaned the faucet instead of photo shopping the crud off of it? You are amazing!
You are right. The freckles are adorable!
