Items on today's agenda:

Upgrade to the new Blogger (yes, it was painless thanks for asking). Check.
Cry a tear of farewell to my old mosaic header. Sniff, check.
Concede technical ineptitude and get cozy with a generic Blogger template. Check.
Get carried away with clever puns on the word piece. Check.
Lament the ample piece expressions left unused, including:
masterpiece
piece of the action
falling to pieces
piece of cake
piecemeal
piece goods
and, of course, war and piece.
Check.

Surely - may I call you Shirley? - you can revive your mosaic header in a generic Blogger template, yes?

There must be a way.

Just say the word and I'll, you know.

Check.

Yeah, well, I tried. Believe me. I just can't get it to fit right in the cute little box. It's too wide or too tall or now my white titles don't show up because they end up floating where the pale tesserae happen to be. I'm sure it's one of those things that would be simple for most techno-savy folk to fix, and thanks to blogging, I am becoming more savy by the minute myself, but I just finally gave up. Yup, I'm a quitter with a capital Q. Go ahead, carve it on my gravestone.

And I would have asked you for help, but I feel like maybe I take advantage of my smart friends/fiends too much.

Must be the week for changing things around - I've seen a few blogs changing designs. Your's is looking great, but it wouldn't matter to me anyhow. I read blogs for the words! :)

Take another little piece of my heart now baby.

I am still resisting Blogger's increasingly frantic efforts to get me to convert.

That header was very cool. Hope you get it back!

I can't bear to do the switch and lose my header... what made you decide to change over?

Gosh I must have been just dang lucky because when I switched it didn't give me a bit of trouble with the customizations I'd done to my template. I had problems with my comments, but that was it. There's gotta be someone who can fix it. Not me, I'm an idiot when it comes to that. Sorry.

I am sure someone could help you put back together your tesserae ... not me, though!

Hmmm, "piece" around my house is short hand for "That PIECE of crap car that can't even pass the state inspection for a new sticker."

You're so much more refined Julie. :) I I'm dying to know what the Q. stands for. My Grandpa use to date a gal named QUELINE. We always called her just plain Q though. Julie Q is so cute. You could give Suzie Q a run for her money. Maybe, John Fogerty should record a Suzie Q update, and that now she has a daughter, JULIE Q. Yeah.

Hope you get it figured out. I just read for the words as well, but it's not quite the same, is it? Comes across a bit too cool and modern now. Umm...not to say you aren't the living embodiment of those qualities or anything but...well, it just doesn't fit.

Right...on my to do list:

Remove foot from mouth
Run like heck before Julie thwaps me upside the head

My two cents...
I liked your previous header, too, but am so much more interested in your words. And I don't think New Blogger will change those!

Ditto! I don't know how to do anything custom!

I don't think I ever saw the old header. Must have been that Firefox-v-Internet Explorer thing. So that particular change doesn't affect me one bit.

But the overall change, whoa. I must admit that my heart missed a beat or two the first time I clicked over here to your NEW Blogger and thought I lost you:

"Wha--! (ka-thump) Hey, where's...(thumpa-thump-thumpa-thumpa)...oh...okay, she's still here...whew."

The shock subsided and heartbeat steadied when I saw your tagline.

Like several have mentioned, I come here for the words (and the art! don't forget the art!), not the mosaic header I never saw in the first place.

In my post tomorrow, I'm sending people your way for your art musings. I'm glad you're still here.

Not that this template's bad, but if you fish around on Google, there are a lot of free templates out there you could probably get your header to fit on. If you're still interested in trying.
